What we do

The Idaho Wilderness Foundation (IWF) partners with people like you to implement horse and mule supported, educational, trail management projects throughout the Idaho back-country.

As an organization that is passionate about keeping Idaho's wild places wild and useable, we proudly practice and teach 'Leave No Trace' principles in our work and daily lives.

We provide premier “ecotourism” excursions that provide:

Ø Critical trail maintenance needs

Ø Back Country and Wilderness education and stewardship skills

Ø Time to bond with our gentle, people loving, horses and mules

Ø Immersion in a wilderness experience that will help you

The Idaho Wilderness Foundation, established in 2010, is a diverse group of stakeholders who delight in a common appreciation for Idaho's wild places and actively support public access!

Mark Ottman - Executive Director

Mark is the heart behind the Idaho Wilderness Foundation. It's humble beginning marked the occasion where his vision became tangible. With the support of others, Mark started IWF and has provided critical trail maintenance to keep our Idaho wilderness areas beautiful and useable. Mark is a C-Sawyer Evaluator-Trainer with the USFS in chainsaw and crosscut certifications, which qualifies him to train people like you!
